5617742 DISTILLATION APPARATUS Toppel Karl Plemington, NJ, UNITED STATES assigned to The BOC Group Inc A distillation apparatus having applicability to an air separation plant in which a distillation column is suspended within a containment sleeve from a main heat exchanger or a head condenser of the distillation column. The suspension of the distillation column is flexible so that the distillation column can assume a vertical orientation under influence of gravitational force to be self-leveling.
5618167 VACUUM PUMP APPARATUS HAVING PELTIER ELEMENTS FOR COOLING THE MOTOR & BEARING HOUSING AND HEATING THE OUTER HOUSING
A heat pump unit for use in small buildings where the unit must be stored in a confined space, not having access to the exterior walls of the building. The unit is contained within a rectangular housing that is divided into three compartments. An outdoor air compartment is vertically disposed between the top and bottom walls at the rear of the housing and an indoor air compartment and a compressor compartment are mounted one over the other at the front of the housing. An outdoor air blower is mounted outside of the housing to save space and is arranged to move air through the outdoor air compartment along a vertical path of travel. An interior vertical wall separates the rear compartment from the two front compartments and contains an upper vertical section and rear wall offset lower vertical section joined by an angularly disposed intermediate section along a vertical path of travel. An outdoor coil is mounted in the rear compartment at an angle adjacent to the intermediate wall section so that the coil extends into both the upper and lower parts of the rear compartment.
5619865 REFRIGERATION SUBCOOLER
Aiyoshizawa Shun-ich; Hirakawa Yutak; Nakazawa Toshiharu Kanagawa ken, JAPAN assigned to Ebara Corporation A vacuum pumping apparatus is presented having a Peltier element based device to provide a dual role of cooling for bearings/drive-motor and heating for sections prone to depositing reaction products. A housing having the bearing and motor sections is provided with a Peltier element based device to absorb the waste heat generated in the bearings and the drive motor, and transfer the waste heat to another section of the apparatus to be released. The released heat may be used to heat that section of the device to facilitate vacuum processing, wherein reaction products are prone to sublime and deposit.
Maxwell Ronal J Dallas, TX, UNITED STATES The present invention relates to an improved refrigeration subcooler comprising an accumulator and receiver apparatus for use in a refrigeration unit or heat pump. Specifically, the present invention relates to a subcooler that requires less refrigerant and is operable at lower operating pressures than conventional subcoolers.
