and rolls a small amount of wax into a ball, placing it on the edge of a basin containing hot saline solution. When the wax is needed, she then places it on a hemostat and hands the wax to the surgeon, returning the hemostat to her table. The instrument* illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 utilizes the standard bone wax cartridge, the closed end of which has been opened with a knife blade. This cartridge is inserted into the shaft of the dispenser and the obturator, which fits the inner contour of the wax cartridge, is screwed shut. Two of these loaded instruments can be kept on the table ready for direct delivery of wax to the surgeon’s finger, or can be operated by an assistant or the surgeon when frequent rcrnet,it,iva --l--------

mostat and the dispenser can then be readily cleaned with ether or acetone. This instrument is believed to provide some improvement in speed and efficiency in the delivery of bone wax as used by the neurologic, cardiothoracic, and orthopedic surgeon.
