Welcome to the 2012 SIR Annual Scientific Meeting 2012 SIR—IR EVIDENCE Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the 2012 SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. It is my distinct pleasure and honor to serve as Program Chair for this year’s meeting and to welcome the global IR community to the great city of San Francisco. The theme for the meeting this year is IR Evidence, chosen to focus on gathering, presenting and discussing the results of relevant and care-changing investigations in practice areas important to the field. The SIR Annual Scientific Meeting Committee is pleased to present the program for the 37th Annual Scientific Meeting in this JVIR Supplement.
2012 JVIR Supplement The 2012 JVIR Supplement provides a preview and roadmap to comprehensive educational offerings at the meeting. Schedules and session details for plenary sessions, categorical courses and symposia constitute the early pages of this supplement and serve as a print program for individual meeting presentations. Faculty syllabus contributions for these programs can be found at www.SIRmeeting.org. As always, the educational opportunities at the meeting are many, and often the hardest part is deciding which sessions to attend. This year’s meeting will focus on core service line based education, controversies and new horizons, and—above all—quality patient care. The meeting will provide you not only with a vision of IR’s future, but the practical tools and techniques that you can use to improve your practice today. Enclosed you will also find the peer-reviewed scientific oral and poster presentation abstracts. This year’s meeting includes 295 oral presentations and 160 posters. Posters for the meeting will be presented in a traditional paper-display format to encourage discussion among colleagues and interaction with the authors during the Poster Reception on Tuesday, March 27. Oral presentation sessions and times are also listed in the supplement. Please bring the printed supplement with you to San Francisco, as this is your only copy. SIR will also once again offer workshops that provide attendees with step-by-step approaches to basic and advanced procedures focusing on the “how to” and “tips and tricks” covering the spectrum of procedures in IR. In addition to numerous new workshops, popular workshops have returned due to demand, and all have been refreshed and updated to enhance the educational experience. Workshop topics and coordinators are listed within these pages, however a complete daily schedule can also be found at www.SIRmeeting. org.
SIR Technical Exhibits The Technical Exhibit Hall will be open from Sunday to Wednesday. Attendees are encouraged to learn about new developments in technology by visiting the Technical Exhibit Hall as part of their educational experience at 2012 SIR. Lunch will be provided in the Exhibit Hall every day, and refreshments will be available during the morning and afternoon breaks. The Technical Exhibit area is an excellent meeting place and a great opportunity to introduce your IR team to advances and equipment for IR. Inside this supplement, please find a list of participating companies and booth numbers as of January 4, 2012. Remember, this is your only copy of the 2012 JVIR Supplement. Please bring it with you to the meeting. We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco.
